Arkhyp Kuindzhi Art Museum

Mariupol Art Museum named after Arkhyp Kuindzhi opened in 2010 in the former mansion of the Geocinth family, built in the early twentieth century in the style of northern Art Nouveau. The exposition in 10 halls tells about the life and work of the outstanding Ukrainian landscape artist, master of light Arkhyp Kuindzhi, who was born in 1842 near Mariupol. The exhibition presents three originals of Kuindzhi's works and numerous copies, in particular - the famous canvas "Moonlight on the Dnieper". Visitors can also get acquainted with the collection of paintings, graphics and arts and crafts, which presents works by Tetiana Yablonska, Mykola Glushchenko, Serhiy Shyshko, Ivan Marchuk, etc.

Azov Maritime Museum

Bakhmut Museum of Local Lore

The Bakhmut State Museum of Local Lore originates from the district history and local lore museum, founded in 1924 by the physician and naturalist B. Walch. It is located in a building built in 1911 by the Bakhmut industrialist V. Frantsuzov. In twelve halls there are expositions of the departments of nature, archeology, folk life, history of the XIX century, Ukrainian revolution, 1920-30, World War II, post-war five-year plans, literature of the native land. The most valuable exhibits: a silicon chopper of the late Paleolithic, a collection of weapons of the Bronze Age, a unique collection of things from the workshops of ancient metallurgists, a Scythian statue of the VI century. City History Museum

The Museum of the History of Kramatorsk tells about the historical path of the industrial city, in particular about the establishment of the first enterprises in the XIX century, as well as the construction of Novokramatorsk Machine-Building Plant (NKMZ), thanks to which in 1932 Kramatorsk gained city status. An interesting collection of Ukrainian folk costumes and towels. A separate exhibition is dedicated to the Ukrainian actor Leonid Bykov, who spent his childhood in Kramatorsk. The Kramatorsk Art Museum is located in the same building, where, in particular, works by famous Ukrainian artists M. Glushchenko, K. Trokhimenko, T. Yablonska and others are presented.

Donetsk Regional Museum

In August 2016, the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local Lore was moved from Donetsk to the Ukrainian-controlled territory of Kramatorsk. The huge exposition has 120 thousand exhibits. Among them are the remains of fossil animals, imprints of fossil plants, samples of stone trees, a large archaeological collection of tools, weapons, utensils, jewelry and amulets, numismatic collection (copper and silver coins of XV-XVIII centuries), ethnographic collection. The greatest value are rare old prints, including geographical and botanical atlases of the XVII century.

Greater Anatolian Forest Museum

The Greater Anatolian Forest State Reserve was established in 1834-45 by Colonel of the Forestry Corps V. Graff, the founder of steppe afforestation. In the bare and arid steppe, Graff first created an artificial forest and founded a school of foresters. In Soviet times, the "Great Anatolian Forest" was declared a natural monument, created an arboretum with an area of ​​7 hectares. It is dominated by mixed plantations of oak, ash, maple, hornbeam, linden. There are birch, poplar, Crimean pine, Amur velvet, European larch, Scots pine, chestnut and Caucasian oak, walnut, Japanese sophora. The Forest Museum has been opened on the premises of the former Graff Meteorological Observatory. On the shore of the pond there is a recreational area "Forest Park" with a beach, camping, restaurant, hotel.

Mariupol Museum of Local Lore

The Mariupol Museum of Local Lore is the oldest museum in the Donetsk region. Founded in 1920 in a three-story building in the historic part of Mariupol, built in the early XX century by the city architect Victor Nielsen. The museum has more than 53,000 exhibits. The exposition covers the nature and history of the southern part of Donetsk region. In particular, the diorama of the Bilosarai Spit is presented. Documents and household items illustrate the process of founding the city of Mariupol in 1778, as the county town of Pavlovsk, the settlement of the region by Greeks and other peoples. The Department of History of the Soviet Period demonstrates the transformation of Mariupol into an industrial center on various household items, models, and original exhibits. In front of the entrance there is a collection of Polovtsian stone babas.

Pokrovsk Historical Museum

Prokofiev Museum

The world's only museum of composer Sergei Prokofiev was opened in the village of Sontsivka, where he was born in 1891. The exposition is located in the building of the former village school, where the composer's mother, M. Prokofiev, who later took over the school, taught. In the three halls of the museum are presented the personal belongings of the composer, his works, a fragment of the interior of his parents. The memorial zone dedicated to the life and work of the composer also includes a magnificent concert hall for 120 seats, a monument to Sergei Prokofiev by sculptor V.
