Attractions of Melitopol district

Melitopol City Museum of Local Lore is located in the old three-story house of a merchant of the 2nd Guild of Chernikov on the former Vorontsovskaya Street. Currently, the museum has 48,000 items. A unique collection of Scythian gold (IV century BC) from the excavations of the Melitopol mound is presented. The pride of the numismatic collection is the treasure of silver coins of 1895-1925. release. The Yakymivka Museum of History and Local Lore was opened in 1972 in the center of the village of Yakymivka, in the premises of one of the preserved buildings of the former manor house, built in 1909 by a local merchant Potetenyev. Today, the museum has more than 2,000 exhibits that tell about the history of the region from ancient times to the present. In particular, the exposition includes many household items of the late XIX - early XX centuries, when Yakymivka became one of the largest points of grain trade in the Azov region: ceramics, decorative and applied arts of different peoples who lived in this area (towels, rugs, clothes, etc.). A separate exposition "Heroes do not die" is dedicated to the events of the Revolution of Dignity and the fallen heroes of the anti-terrorist operation.
