Buchach Museum of Local Lore

Museum / gallery

The museum is located in the heart of the city, near the town hall. The archeological exposition presents objects from the times of Trypillia culture. The ethnographic exhibition tells about the life of peasants of the end of the XIX century. In addition to the history of the city and the district, there is an exposition dedicated to the work of the outstanding sculptor Ivan Georg Pinzel, who lived and worked in Buchach for a long time. The model of Buchach Castle is also of interest.

Memorial Museum of Political Prisoners

The Vasyl Stus Memorial Museum for Political Prisoners was opened in Buchach in 1990 in the basement of a former KGB building, where a pre-trial detention center was located during the Soviet era. The exposition presents documents, photographs and personal belongings related to the events of the OUN-UPA liberation struggle and Stalinist repressions. It has been established that more than 1,500 residents of the district died at the hands of Stalin's executioners in those years. Some of the dead were buried in the basements of the Church of the Intercession.

Museum complex "Lemkivske selo"

The museum complex "Lemkivske selo" is located in the tract "Bychova" near Monastyryska. It consists of several wooden buildings that reflect the life and culture of the Lemko people. The first exposition house "Lemkivska svitlytsia" presents ancient icons of the XIX-XX centuries, embroidered towels, shirts, tablecloths, sacred vestments from the churches of Monastyryshchyna, old prints, etc. In the second house "Lemkivska Stolyarnya" there are machines and tools, as well as living conditions: bed, table, spinning wheel, bambetli. In the "Potter's House" you can see a pottery kiln, a potter's wheel, potter's tools, as well as an exhibition of pottery. The "House of Tailors" presents furniture, a sewing machine, as well as an exhibition of dolls in Lemko costumes by master I. Krynytska. Nearby is the "Estate of the Lemko Gazda", a chapel, a bell tower, a well. The complex includes the Fire Field, which annually hosts the festival "Bells of Lemko".

Zalishchyk Museum of Local Lore

The museum is located in the district house of folk art. Founded in 1929, back in Poland, by seminary teacher I. Schwartz. The collection is based on items found during archaeological research and donated by local historians. After the war it was revived in 1964. For some time he was in the closed Church of the Intercession, and in 1985 he moved to the current premises. Over the years, 18,000 exhibits have been collected. In recent years, the exhibition has been replenished with materials about the participation of Zalishchyky residents in UHS, OUN, UPA and other patriotic organizations.
