Genichesk Museum of Local Lore presents an interesting collection dedicated to the history of the city of Genichesk. In the hall & quot; Nature of the region & quot; there are 2 dioramas: & quot; Sea of ​​Azov & quot; and & quot; Biryuchy Island & quot ;. Among the unique exhibits: the stele of the Sarmatian period, the bones of the southern elephant (mammoth), antique amphorae, paintings by the folk artist Kupriyanov, archival documents of the Nazi occupation, life, clothing, utensils of the XVIII-XIX centuries. A special exhibit is a wooden bow decoration of a medieval ship & quot; Head of the tour & quot; (X-XI centuries), which is a tourist symbol of Genichesk.

Kherson Art Museum

Kherson Art Museum named after O. Shovkunenko was opened in 1977 in the former building of the City Duma. His prototype was the pre-revolutionary Kherson Museum of Fine Arts, whose collection included works of painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied arts, donated by the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, the St. Petersburg Porcelain Factory and the Glass Factory. The reason for the creation of the current museum was the city's receipt of a private collection of paintings by collector M. Kornilovskaya. Now the museum's collection consists of works of art of the XVII-XXI centuries, and its geography covers several continents. The collection is based on more than 150 works by the outstanding Ukrainian painter O. Shovkunenko. The exhibition also presents paintings by V. Polenov, A. Savrasov, I. Kramsky, V. Makovsky, M. Vrubel, M. Pymonenko, V. Orlovsky and others, iconography of the XVII-XX centuries.

Skadovsk Museum of History and Local Lore

The Skadovsk Museum of History and Local Lore is housed in an ancient building called the House of Columns. The two-story house with antique columns was built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and belonged to one of the city's founders, Professor Mettelstein of Odessa Technical University. This is the only pre-revolutionary mansion preserved in the city. The main exposition tells about the history of the city and its founder, the leader of the nobility of the Tavriya province S. Skadovsky. There is also an exhibition dedicated to the liberation of Skadovsk from Nazi occupation, an art gallery and a nature hall of the region.
