Attractions of Yahotyn

Palace and park complex in Yahotyn, on the shores of Lake Supiy, founded by Hetman of Ukraine Kirill Rozumovsky in the XVIII century, expanded and arranged by his son Andriy Rozumovsky. The granddaughter of Hetman Varvara Repnina-Volkonska received Yevhen Hrebinka, Mykola Gogol, and Taras Shevchenko here. Preserved homesteads became part of the Yahotyn State Historical Museum. In the outbuilding where Shevchenko lived in 1843, the interiors were restored and a museum was established. Personal belongings of Shevchenko and Repnins, paintings about Shevchenko's stay in Yahotyn, as well as a painting by an unknown Italian artist "Blind with a boy" from the personal collection of the Repnins. The pearl of the collection is the most complete collection of paintings by folk artist Kateryna Bilokur - more than 70 works: paintings, watercolors, graphics, sketches, sketches, sketches, early and unfinished works. The Museum of Ethnography was opened in Yahotyn in 2006 in the premises of the former Zemstvo school. The typical interior of the village house of Yahotyn region of the beginning of the XIX century was reconstructed. Author's exhibitions of paintings by Yahotyn artists are held.

The museum exposition, dedicated to the stay of the poet and artist Taras Shevchenko in Yahotyn, is located in the reconstructed wooden wing of the former Repnin-Volkonsky estate in Kyiv region. Shevchenko visited Yahotyn several times in 1843-1845, living in this wing. Here he painted portraits of the owners of the Yahotyn estate, painted the surrounding landscapes. Copies of some of his works are now on display in the museum's exposition in six thematic halls. Of particular value are some items from the Repnin estate that Shevchenko used, such as a desk and a chair in the Cabinet Hall. Also presented here is a unique painting by an unknown Italian artist "Blind Man with a Boy" from the personal collection of the Repnin princes. In the "Living Room" paintings by contemporary artists reproduce some moments of the poet's life in Yahotyn. The exposition "Taras Shevchenko's Wing" is a department of the Municipal Institution "Yagotyn Historical Museum".

Yahotyn Historical Museum is located in a complex of ancient buildings of the industrial town of the distillery (XIX century) in the heart of Yahotyn. In 14 halls there are collections of archeological finds, which belong to the most ancient times of the Neolithic era, Trypillia culture, Slavic times, the period of Kievan Rus, the Cossack era, as well as household items, household tools, jewelry XVII-XVIII centuries., Applied arts XIX -XX st. The collection has 5,000 exhibits.
