General information about Tairove
The settlement of Tairovo is located on the eastern bank of the Sukhoi estuary on the southern outskirts of Odessa. It was founded in 1910 by the wine-maker V. Tairov, who founded the experimental farm "Wine-making station of Russian wine-growers and wine-makers" here. Now it is the Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking. V. Tairov. In parallel, since 1991, the Niva research and production enterprise has been operating, also producing wine under the Tairovo trademark. Tairovo has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1982. Since 2008, the village has been hosting the "Living Wine of Ukraine" festival.
Селище Таїрове розташоване на східному березі Сухого лиману на південній околиці Одеси. Засноване в 1910 році виноробом В. Таїровим, який заклав тут дослідне господарство "Виноробна станція російських виноградарів і виноробів". Зараз це Інститут виноградарства і виноробства ім. В. Таїрова. Паралельно з 1991 року діє науково-виробниче підприємство "Нива", яке також виробляє вино під торговою маркою "Таїрове". Статус селища міського типу Таїрове має з 1982 року. З 2008 року в селищі проводиться фестиваль "Живе вино України".

The Vasily Tairov Institute of Viticulture and Enology was established in 1905 as a research farm "Wine Station of Russian Winegrowers and Winemakers". The initiator of its creation was the editor of the magazine "Bulletin of Winemaking", an enthusiast of grape culture Vasily Tairov. At the first stage, a small basement was equipped and a library was built. In the period from 1910 to 1912 on the shores of the Dry Estuary the construction of the station complex was completed. An experimental vineyard (3 ha) was established to develop viticulture issues, and a seedling grafting workshop was built. In 1931 the station was reorganized into the Ukrainian Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology. A museum of grapes and wine has been opened for its 100th anniversary, which tells about the main directions of development of the domestic wine school. The exposition presents personal belongings of Vasyl Tairov, lifetime editions of scientific works, antique laboratory equipment, gifts from the institute. Excursions with tastings are conducted.
