Museum of Beregivshchyna (Count's yard)

Palace / manor , Architecture , Museum / gallery

The fortified residence of the Transylvanian prince G. Bethlehem (Bethlehem) was built in 1629 on the site of a monastery of the Dominican Order, which existed here in 1327-1556. The "Count's Court" is something between a palace and a castle. The squat one-storey house with a mezzanine is made in the Baroque style. The complex includes utility rooms: carriage, stable, granary. The current appearance of the house was given after the reconstruction in 1857 by Count Schönborn, who received the estate as a gift from the Austrian emperor. The oldest part of the building - basements with a Gothic portico, left over from the time of the monastery. Currently, the premises are occupied by the Historical and Ethnographic Museum "Beregivshchyna", which presents objects of the Roman period, relics of the time of F. Rakoczi, exhibits from the First World War, ethnographic collection. It is planned to create a museum of viticulture and winemaking in the cellars.
