Bakhmut Museum of Local Lore
The Bakhmut State Museum of Local Lore originates from the district history and local lore museum, founded in 1924 by the physician and naturalist B. Walch. It is located in a building built in 1911 by the Bakhmut industrialist V. Frantsuzov. In twelve halls there are expositions of the departments of nature, archeology, folk life, history of the XIX century, Ukrainian revolution, 1920-30, World War II, post-war five-year plans, literature of the native land. The most valuable exhibits: a silicon chopper of the late Paleolithic, a collection of weapons of the Bronze Age, a unique collection of things from the workshops of ancient metallurgists, a Scythian statue of the VI century.
