Museum of Fine Arts. I. Bukhanchuk presents a unique collection of paintings in the style of socialist realism. It was opened in 1974 on the initiative of art critic and collector I. Bukhanchuk, who taught in the 1960s at the Leningrad Art Institute. The museum building was designed in 1985 under the direction of Professor I. Fomin. Bukhanchuk provided the museum with its own collection of paintings, numbering 600 exhibits. Later, the collection was replenished from state funds, many Soviet artists donated their works to the museum, and soon the collection numbered 3,000 originals.
