Музей образотворчого мистецтва ім. І. Буханчука представляє унікальну колекцію живопису в стилі соцреалізму. Відкритий у 1974 році з ініціативи мистецтвознавця та колекціонера І. Буханчука, який викладав у 1960-х роках у Ленінградському художньому інституті. Будівлю музею спроєктовано в 1985 році під керівництвом професора І. Фоміна. Буханчук надав музею власну колекцію живопису, що налічувала 600 експонатів. Надалі колекція поповнювалась із державних фондів, свої роботи музею дарували багато радянських художників, і незабаром колекція вже налічувал 3 тисячі оригіналів.
