The village of Krasenovka on the r. Irkliy is located 35 km north-east of Zolotonosha. It was first mentioned in 1767 as a Cossack village, which was part of the Kropyvnyanskaya hundred of the Pereyaslavl regiment. The name of the village is associated with the name of the founder, the Cossack G. Krasion. He also built the Nativity of the Mother of God Church (destroyed in 1929). In 1871, the famous athlete I. Poddubny, six-time world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, was born in Krasenovka. In 1990, in honor of the outstanding fellow countryman, the villagers erected a monument, and a year later they opened the Poddubny Museum.
