Chornobai

The village of Chernobay is a regional center 25 km east of Zolotonosha. It has been known since 1656 as the settlement of the Kropivnyanskaya Hundreds of the Pereyaslavl Regiment. The name is probably associated with the surname of one of the first settlers. In the XVIII century. the village belonged to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Since the XIX century. industry began to develop, the village became a volost center. There is a local history museum.

Селище Чорнобай розташоване в 25 км на схід від Золотоноші. Відоме з 1656 року як слобода Кропивнянської сотні Переяславського полку. Назва, ймовірно, пов'язана з прізвищем одного з перших поселенців. В XVIII ст. село належало Києво-Печерській лаврі. З XIX ст. почала розвиватися промисловість, село стало волосним центром. Діє краєзнавчий музей.
