Novyi Buh

The city of Novy Bug is located 95 km northeast of Nikolaev, on the highway towards Krivoy Rog. In the XVIII century. here at ur. Kutsaya Balka, there was a fortified winter quarters of the Zaporozhye Cossack Y. Kutsoy. In 1798 this land became the property of the treasury; fugitive peasants began to settle on it, forming the village of Semenovka, named after one of the settlers. In 1810, a well-to-do peasant P. Treska settled here, and the village began to be called Novopavlovka. Soon it became a volost center. Since 1832, the current name Novy Bug has been named, which is due to the fact that the 4th Ukrainian Uhlan regiment, staffed by the Cossacks of the Bug Cossack army, was located here.
