The village of Vasilkovka on the river Volchya is a 80 km east of Dnipro, away from the main highways. It arose in 1707 as a winter quarry for one of the Cossack foremen near ur. Vasilkov. After the liquidation of the Zaporizhzhya Sich in 1775, the winter house received the status of a military settlement. Over time, the settlement became the center of the volost. The main occupations of the inhabitants were agriculture and animal husbandry, and crafts were also developed. In 1897 the Nicholas Church was founded (destroyed in Soviet times, now restored in a new form). At the end. XIX - early.
