Музей етнографії та екології Карпатського краю в Яремчі засновано у 1963 році з ініціативи краєзнавця М. Музича, який зібрав колекцію етнографічних творів, історичних та природних матеріалів. До 1993 року називався Музеєм партизанської слави, оскільки основна експозиція висвітлювала дії у Карпатах партизанського з'єднання С. Ковпака у роки Другої світової війни. Потім тут розмістили експозицію, присвячену визвольній боротьбі українського народу, яка розповідала про створення Легіону УСС, УГА, молодіжної організації "Пласт", діяльності ОУН, боротьби УПА та дивізії "СС Галичина". З 2007 року музей став філією Коломийського музею народного мистецтва. Відкрилася експозиція, присвячена гуцульській етнокультурі.
