Museum of Contemporary Art of Odesa
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Odessa was established in 2008 by businessman, intellectual and philanthropist V. Morokhovsky. The exposition is based on a unique collection of works by M. Knobel's "second wave of the Odessa avant-garde", which has been significantly expanded during the museum's existence. Of particular interest are the halls of nonconformist art of the 60s and 70s and the "New South Wave" of the 80s and 90s. A separate hall is dedicated to the legendary "fence" exhibition of V. Khrushchev and S. Sychev in 1967, which became the first Soviet unauthorized art event. The Museum also has an exhibition hall and gallery, which hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, conferences and various art projects.
