Chornobyl Museum, Kyiv

The National Museum "Chornobyl" is a multifunctional historical and cultural institution that preserves and tells the story of the nuclear accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986 as the most severe radioecological catastrophe of the twentieth century. The museum was opened in 1992 at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the historic building of the Fire Tower of the early XX century, which originally housed the Podolsk Fire Department, and later the Kyiv Regional Fire Department, which coordinated the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident.

Національний музей "Чорнобиль" є багатофункціональним історико-культурним закладом, який береже та оповідає історію ядерної аварії на Чорнобильській атомній електростанції 1986 року як найбільш важкої радіоекологічної катастрофи ХХ століття. Музей відкрито в 1992 році за ініціативи МВС України в історичній будівлі Пожежної каланчі початку XX століття, де початково розміщувалось Подільське пожежне депо, а згодом і Київське обласне управління пожежної охорони, яке координувало хід ліквідації аварії на ЧАЕС.
