The provincial town of Ichnya is located between Borzna and Priluki, away from the main highways. It was first mentioned in the XIV century, when it was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The Tatar name of the river flowing here. Ichenka (tat. "Ichen" - a watering hole) indicates that once there was a camp of the Tatars. Since 1590, Prince K. Vishnevetsky owned Ichnya, and during this period it received the status of a town. In 1648-49. the Ichnya regiment was created, but then Ichnya became part of the Prilutsky regiment.
