The village of Polonki on the r. Udai is located 25 km southeast of Priluki. It has been known since 1666. According to legend, the name is associated with the Ukrainian word "opole" (ice-holes), since the inhabitants chopped many holes in winter for fishing in the river. Preserved St. Michael's Church, built in 1779 at the expense of the son of the priest A. Shilo. There is a holy spring near the temple.
