Parafiivka

The village of Parafiyevka is located in the upper reaches of the Smzh River, 20 km east of Ichnya. It was first mentioned in the census of 1666. Development began in 1845, when the landowner G. Tarnovsky from neighboring Kachanovka built a sugar factory in Parafievka in 1845. In 1897 the plant and the surrounding lands became the property of the sugar manufacturer Kharitonenko. At the same time, social infrastructure began to develop in the village: a zemstvo school, a library, a hospital. A 20-kilometer railway line was laid. Now Parafiyevka is one of the most promising settlements of the Ichnya district. There is a cascade of ponds in the village, which, downstream of the Smozha river, turn into the Kachanovskie stakes on the territory of the Kachanivka historical and cultural reserv ...
