The small and inaccessible village of Buchak is located in a saddle between hills on the right steep bank of the Dnieper (Kanevsky Reservoir) in the middle of a deciduous forest. It has been known since the 18th century, although other settlements existed here before. In particular, the source "Rozhena Krynitsa" in ur. Gribiney to the north-west of the village is associated with the legend of the campaign of the Kiev princes Svyatoslav, Igor and Vladimir against the Polovtsi.
