Mezhyrich

An ancient village in the middle reaches of the Dnieper, between Moshny and Kanev. It is located in the interfluve of the Ros and Rosava rivers, which is the reason for the name Mezhirich. In 1190, the Ipatiev Chronicle mentions the city of Tovarov, which was located at ur. A small town on the territory of the present village. Like Mezhirich, the village appears on maps in the XIV-XV centuries. The last owner was N. Parchevsky, to whom T. Shevchenko came in 1859 to buy a plot of land between Kanev and Bakers (Shevchenko's drawing "In Mezhirichi" has been preserved). In 1965, archaeologists discovered the well-preserved remains of four mammoth tusk dwellings dating back to 13,000 BC.
