Bessarabian village Tarutino on the river. Anchorak is located 170 km west of Odessa, near the Moldovan border. It was seized in 1814 after the conquest of Bessarabia by the Russian empires and the conclusion of the Bucharest Treaty. The first settlers were Germans and Poles. Tarutino became the first German colony in Bessarabia. In 1940, the Germans left the village and were replaced by Ukrainians from the Vinnitsa region, as well as Russians, Bulgarians, Moldovans, and Gagauzians. Tarutino is distinguished by its multinationality even now. There is a large clothing and food market here, which attracts sellers and buyers from all around.
