General information about Lymans'ke

A large village on the bank of the Kuchurgan estuary, next to the Odessa-Tiraspol highway and the Ukrainian-Moldovan border crossing Kuchurgan-Pervomaisk. Founded in 1789 by German colonists who settled near Odessa after Catherine II's decree allowing foreigners to settle on empty lands in Russia. Until 1944 it was called Selts. In 1901, the main Catholic church of the Kuchurgan district was built here, the ruins of which have survived to this day. In Soviet times, a large military airfield was built nearby, which was disbanded in 2004.
