The village of Chernukhi on the river. Mnoga is a regional center 35 km east of Pyryatin, the birthplace of the philosopher G. Skovoroda. It was first mentioned in 1261 as a fortress for protection from the Pechenegs and Polovtsians, which was destroyed during the Mongol-Tatar invasion. New references date back to the 17th century, when the village was listed among the possessions of Prince Vishnevetsky, then the Georgian princes Asikhmovanovs, then Count Bezborodko. The inhabitants of Chernukh took part in the War of Independence under the leadership of B. Khmelnitsky. In 1722 the outstanding Ukrainian philosopher and educator G. Skovoroda was born here. A museum was created for the 250th anniversary of Skovoroda, a monument was opened.
