Osip Makovei Manor-Museum

The museum-manor of Osip Makovei was established in the house where this outstanding Ukrainian poet, prose writer, satirist, publicist, teacher and public figure was born. The exposition is located in three halls: two rooms and halls. In one room are collected things of the Makovei family: furniture (chairs, table), utensils, embroidered shirts, toys. In another - photos of Joseph with family and friends; his letters, books; portraits. Household items are presented in the halls. Makovei studied at the Ukrainian Gymnasium in Lviv and at the Faculty of Philology of Lviv University. He was the editor of the Zorya magazine, the Bukovyna newspaper, and one of the editors of the Literary-Scientific Bulletin. In 1901 he received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for the study of the works of Panteleimon Kulish. During the First World War of 1914-18 he served as a military translator for the Austrian army, chief of postal censorship, and later in a radio group. In the postwar period he worked as the director of the teacher's seminary in Zalishchyky. Macovei maintained friendly relations with I. Franko, L. Ukrainka and other writers. He began his literary career in the late 80's of the XIX century under the pseudonyms: Spectator, O. Stepanovych.

Yavorivshchyna Historical and Ethnographic Museum

The Yavorivshchyna Historical and Ethnographic Museum was opened in 1927-1933 on the initiative of the Native School Circle. Dr. M. Filtz, artist O.
