The village of Slavskoe (Slavsko) is a Carpathian ski resort on the Beskydy mountain range in the valley of the Opir and Slavka rivers near Trostyan mountain. It was first mentioned in 1015. According to legend, the settlement was founded by the surviving warriors of the Drevlyan prince Svyatoslav, who died in a battle with the army of prince Svyatopolk the Damned near Skole. For some time this area belonged to the Potocki magnates. Slavske acquired its tourist significance at the end of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th century, when a climatological clinic was opened here.
