Pokrovs'ke

The village of Pokrovske (Pokrovski khutors) is located on the northern bank of the reserved Kinburnska spit, from the side of the Dnieper estuary. To the west of the village are the ramparts of the Kinburn Fortress, built in the 15th century by the Turks and seized by the Russian troops in 1774. Successful military operations conducted in the area of Kinburn and Ochakov under the command of A. Suvorov were included in the textbooks of military art. In memory of these victories, a wooden fortress church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos was built on the spit, around which the village of Pokrovske arose.
