The village of Devichki is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, 20 km west of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky. It was first mentioned in the 17th century. According to legend, the name is associated with the fact that once there was a nunnery on this place. Near the village were found the remains of settlements of the Neolithic era (V-III millennium BC), copper-bronze (III-I millennium BC), early Slavic Chernyakhov culture, as well as mounds of Scythian times (VI-III centuries .
