The Hostomel village is located 10 km north-west of Kiyv. Probably, in ancient times it was called Ostromir. As Hostomel was first mentioned in Polish documents of the 15th century. In 1614, the Magdeburg Law was granted by the charter of the Polish king Sigismund III. During the War of Independence, it became the centenary of the Kiev regiment, then the center of the volost.
