The ancient village of Gogolev is located 15 km from Brovary along the Sumy highway. Some researchers identify this settlement with the chronicle Nosov on Ruda, known since 1147, but it is more likely that this is the current Nosovka in the Chernihiv region. The current Gogolev has been known from Polish sources since 1625, when the town received the Magdeburg Law. In 1648, the Gogol's hundred of the Pereyaslavsky regiment was formed, which then entered the Kiev regiment. There was a strong fortress surrounded by a moat, two Orthodox churches and one Catholic church. The preserved wooden church of the Nativity of the Virgin was built in 1827 on the site of the old Cossack church. Also preserved is the wooden zemstvo hospital of the con. XIX century. T.
