The city of Zaporozhye power engineers Energodar is located on the left bank of the Dnieper (Kakhovskoe Reservoir). It arose in 1970 during the construction of the Zaporozhye State District Power Plant. In 1979, the construction of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, began here. It was one of the last shock construction projects in the USSR, where graduates of the best universities in the country gathered. The first 4 power units of ZNPP were put into operation in 1984-87, and the last 6th unit was put into operation in 1995.
