Popov Manor Museum-Reserve (Castle)
Palace / manor , Architecture , Museum / gallery
The popular name "Popov Castle" was given to the palace and park complex in Vasylivka, on the basis of which the historical and architectural museum-reserve "Sadyba Popova" was created. The grand palace was built in 1894 (probably designed by architect N. Benoit) in the style of neo-romanticism with elements of Gothic and Baroque and resembled the architecture of medieval European castles. In the main building there was a ballroom, mirrored rooms, a library with rare books, an art gallery with originals by Titian, Goya, Rembrandt. In Soviet times, most buildings were dismantled for building materials. Preserved jagged walls with a gate, two outbuildings, a carriage, a stable, a watchtower. The monument is in an emergency condition, on its territory there is a house, a boarding school. A museum of the estate's history has been opened in the western wing, where, in particular, Bryullov's paintings are presented. The clearing of the palace basements and other dungeons, where excursions have begun, has recently been completed.
