The resort town of Berdyansk is located on the coast of the Azov Sea, at the base of the Berdyansk Spit, 85 km south-west of Mariupol. Old names: Kutur-Ogly, Novo-Nogaysk, Berdy, Osipenko. The beginning of its history was laid by the seaport, built in 1825-30. Many sanatoriums and boarding houses are located on the Berdyansk Spit, which stands out in the sea. The central embankment of Berdyansk has been reconstructed; many modern monuments and sculptures have been installed on it, incl. humorous: a goby-breadwinner, Children of Lieutenant Schmidt, Plumber, Happy Childhood, etc. In 2006, the largest water park in Ukraine "Cape of Good Hope" was opened. Day of the city of Berdyansk is celebrated on September 17.

Центральна набережна Бердянська реконструйована, на ній встановлено безліч сучасних пам'ятників і скульптур, в т.ч. гумористичних: Бичкові-годувальнику, Дітям лейтенанта Шмідта, Сантехнікові, Щасливому дитинству тощо. В 2006 році відкрито найбільший в Україні аквапарк "Мис доброї надії". День міста Бердянська відзначається 17 вересня.

Berdyansk Art Museum was founded in 1930 on the initiative of painter and graphic artist, doctor of art history and professor, collector Isaac Brodsky. The exhibition is based on his personal collection of paintings, including paintings by Ilya Repin, Konstantin Korovin, Mikhail Vrubel, Nikolai Roerich, Isaac Levitan, Konstantin Makovsky, Valentin Serov, Alexander Benoit, Marc Chagall and others, as well as the work of Brodsky himself. Currently, the museum fund consists of 4.5 thousand works of painting, sculpture, graphics and applied arts. In particular, the museum presents a painting by Ivan Aivazovsky & quot; Storm at Sea & quot; (1896).

The Museum of the History of the city is the youngest of the museums in Berdyansk. Opened in 2005 for the City Day. The exposition, formed on the basis of a part of the collection of the museum of local lore, covers the history of Berdyansk since its foundation in the early XIX century. to this day. The conference hall of the museum commemorates one of the founders of Berdyansk - the brightest prince, Governor-General of Novorossia and Governor of Bessarabia M. Vorontsov. Berdyansk Museum of Local Lore named after V. Kravchenko was founded in 1929. Located on the ground floor of a three-story apartment building in the middle of the XX century. Schmidt Memorial House-Museum

The memorial house-museum of P. Schmidt in Berdyansk is dedicated to the famous revolutionary Lieutenant Schmidt, who raised an uprising in 1905 on the cruiser "Ochakiv", as well as his father P. Schmidt, who served as mayor of the city and port of Berdyansk in 1876-86. their improvement. The museum is located in the mayor's house opposite the park, founded by P. Schmidt. The exposition on the ground floor tells about the Sevastopol uprising of 1905, one of the organizers of which was Lieutenant Schmidt. On the second floor, the interiors of the homes of wealthy citizens of the early twentieth century are partially recreated.
