General information about Stanytsia Luhans'ka
The village of Stanitsa Luganska is a located on the river Seversky Donets, 10 km north-east of Luhansk. It was founded in 1677 as a watch post Lugan, in 1687 it was restored after the Tatar raid as Stanitsa Luhanska. The official date of foundation is considered to be 1688. The Museum of the Don Cossacks works.
Селище Станиця Луганська розташоване на річці Сіверський Донець, в 10 км на північний схід від Луганська. Засноване в 1677 році як сторожовий пост Луган, в 1687 році відновлене після татарського набігу вже як Станиця Луганська. Офіційною датою заснування вважається 1688 р. Працює музей донського козацтва.

Stanychno-Luhansk Museum of Local Lore, known as the Museum of the Don Cossacks, was opened in 1988 to mark the 300th anniversary of Stanytsia Luhanska. In 1993 the exposition "The village of Luhansk - the original settlement of the Don Cossacks" was opened.
