The village of Shchirets on the r. Szczyrka is located 10 km southwest of Pustomyty. It was first mentioned in 1113 as an ancient Russian city that had a complex system of fortifications. After the Mongol-Tatar invasion, Shchirets was reborn as a Polish town, which in 1397 was granted the Magdeburg Law. At the same time the Church of St. Stanislaus was founded, which later was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. In the XIV-XVIII centuries. Szczyrec was part of the possession of Polish magnates - first the Tarnowskys, then the Mniszeks, Voitanovskys.
