Shandra

The village of Shandra is located 20 km north-east of Mironovka. Founded in the 16th century. The name comes from the poisonous marsh plant shandra. Probably, the settlement arose as a Cossack outpost, as evidenced by the remains of earthworks in the area, which has long been called Kureni. For the first time in the documents Shandra was mentioned in 1654 as a village of the Vinnitsa regiment among those sworn in to be loyal to the Moscow state.
