Shats'k

The village of Shatsk is a regional center in the north-west of the Volyn region, near the borders of Poland and Belarus. The first mention is in 1410. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin (XIX century) has been preserved. Since 1983, Shatsk has been the center of the Shatsk National Natural Park, included in the list of UNESCO biosphere reserves. Volyn Lake District covers an area of almost 50 thousand hectares, there are about 30 lakes. The famous Svityaz Lake is the deepest in Ukraine (depth 58.4 m, area 27.5 sq. Km).
