The village of Gorkaya Polonka on the r. Chernoguzke is located on the outskirts of Lutsk towards Lviv. It has been known since 1545 as Polonnoe Gashtoldovo, although back in the XIII century. it was here that the annalistic Poloninsky monastery probably existed, on the site of which the current St. Michael's Church was later built. In the XVI century. Gorka Polonka (Gorka, Gorkov) belonged to the princes of the Radziwills, then to the princes of Sangushko. A mound has survived, under which the Cossacks who died during the Battle of Berestetskaya are buried (a memorial cross was installed).
