Koktebel is a fashionable bohemian resort, the recognized capital of Crimean nudism. Located 20 km south-west of Feodosia, in a bay at the foot of Karadag. In the VII-X centuries. here there was a small Christian settlement Tepseni, and in the XIII-XV centuries, presumably, the Venetian Calliera. Architectural monuments have not survived. Only at the beginning of the twentieth century. In the remote Tatar village of Koktebel, dachas of representatives of the intelligentsia began to appear, who were attracted here by the famous poet, artist and critic M. Voloshin. Before the Russian occupation of Crimea, the Jazz-Koktebel festival was held on the square in front of Voloshin's house-museum and on the beach every September.
