The village of Zarechnoye in the valley of the r. Salgir is located 15 km southeast of Simferopol along the Alushta highway. It was first mentioned in 1784 as the Tatar village of Shemkai (Shumkhai) of the Salgir kadilyk of the Akmechet Kaymakan. In the beginning. XX century. more than a third of the population were Greeks, who were deported in 1944. In 1945 Shumhai was renamed Zarechnoye.
