The resort village of Okunevka is located on the western coast of Crimea (Tarkhankut peninsula), 25 km south of the Black Sea. It has been known since the 19th century. as a small Tatar village Tarpanchi. According to one version, "tarpanchi" is a hunter of wild horses, and according to another, the name comes from the Turkic word "tarpan", which means a grape press. Near Okunevka there is a Scythian settlement Tarpanchi, which arose in the II century. BC. on the site of an older ancient Greek settlement. The seashore is steep, the beach is narrow: pebbles and sand.
