The village of Markovka is located 10 km northwest of Teplik. Known since the 17th century. On the map of G. de Beauplan in 1647, it is indicated as a settlement with a church. Markovka went down in history as the place of the murder of the Ukrainian composer M. Leontovich by the Soviet special services (the museum is open).

The Mykola Leontovych Museum was opened in the village of Markivka, where the father of the composer, author of the world-famous "Shchedryk" lived. It was in the house of his father Nikolai Leontovich was shot dead by security officers in 1921. He was buried in Markivka at the same time. And in 1977, a century after the composer's birth, a museum was opened and a bronze bust (artist J. Ulgursky) was installed. The museum presents photographs of the Leontovych family, original manuscripts of scores, title covers of the First and Second collections of songs from Podillya, pianos, books, music and furniture. A granite obelisk has been erected on Leontovych's grave. It is planned to erect a monument to Shchedryk. On August 22, 2016, the renovated Mykola Leontovych Museum was opened as a branch of the Vinnytsia Regional Museum of Local Lore.
