The village of Ordzhonikidze is located on the seashore in the eastern part of the Crimean peninsula, 10 km from Feodosia. Known since the XIV century. as Provato (Greek - "sheep"). Later the name was transformed into Provalnoe. Nearby, on the slope of the Jan-Kutaran mountain (Turkic - "salvation of the soul"), there was an Armenian monastery (foundations, several "cross stones" - khachkars were preserved). In 1911, the construction of a military plant began on Cape Kiik-Atlama, which in Soviet times retained its profile - combat torpedoes were produced here. The settlement was named after the Minister of Heavy Industry of the USSR Sergo Ordzhonikidze in 1937, when a large-scale reconstruction of the plant began.
