Hurzuf

The village of Gurzuf is the eastern outskirts of Big Yalta, the territory of the famous "Artek". The first fortress Gorzuv was erected on a rock above the Gurzuf bay in the 6th century, as there is a record in Byzantine sources in 553. The name probably comes from lat. ursus - bear (near the city is the Bear Mountain - Ayu-Dag). Remains of a Genoese fortress of the 11th-15th centuries have survived. Селище Гурзуф - східна околиця Великої Ялти, територія відомого "Артека". Перша фортеця Горзув була зведена на скелі над Гурзуфською бухтою в VI ст., про що є запис у візантійських джерелах, датований 553 роком. Назва, можливо, походить від лат. ursus - ведмідь (поруч з містом розташована Ведмідь-гора - Аю-Даг). Збереглися залишки генуезької фортеці ХI-XV ст.
