Belkosa is a resort village at the base of the Belosaraiskaya Spit. In the Middle Ages, the city of Belgorod was located here, renamed in the XIII century. Tatar-Mongols in Belosarai. A new settlement in its place arose in the 18th century, after the resettlement of the Greeks to the Azov region. There are many sanatoriums and recreation centers on the spit. In 1980, a landscape reserve "Belosaraiskaya Spit" (217 species of plants) was created, the habitat and nesting place of a large number of birds was declared the Belosaraysky Ornithological Reserve. The lighthouse of the 19th century has survived.
