The village of Zolotoy Kolodets is located at the head of the small steppe river Gruzskaya (a tributary of the Krivoy Torts), 23 kilometers northeast of Dobropolye. This old settlement was founded in 1680 by the landowner Levshin. And the name of the settlement was given by the Russian Tsar Peter I.
