City on the river. Nichlava, 15 km from Chortkiv towards Ternopil. Known since the XIV century. like Kopachin. There is no unambiguous version about the origin of the name. According to Polish sources, this was the family nest of the nobles of the Kopach coat of arms. In 1443 Y. Kopychinsky founded the first stone church here. By that time, the Kopychinsky castle already existed (it has not survived). In 1564, the Kopychintsy received the Magdeburg Law and the status of a city. In 1600, a new castle was built, which fell into decay after the events of the War of Independence and Turkish rule.
