The village of Okno on the r. Hnilka is located 40 km north of Gusyatin, 45 km southeast of Ternopil, between Skalat and Satanov. It was first mentioned in 1464, although a settlement on this place existed before (the old Russian "Prince's tract" passed here). The name comes from the non-freezing karst lakes located here, which are called "windows". At different times the village belonged to the nobles Senyavsky, Chartorisky, Lubomirsky, Fedorovich. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1726), ancient statues of St. Anthony and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Cossack graves, a monument in honor of the abolition of the panshchina in 1848 have been preserved.
