Budaniv

The village of Budanov on the r. Seret is located 20 km south of Terebovlya. Founded in 1549 as the town of Bodzanov in the ownership of the Galician governor J. Budzanovsky with a wooden castle. There is also a legend that the village was founded by shepherds who produced buz sheep cheese in this area. Later the village belonged to the Taranovsky, then the Khodorovsky, who built a stone castle. After the War of Independence, Budanovsky Castle was restored by the new owner T. Luzhetsky. In the 18th century, under the great Lithuanian subchancellor S.A. Shchuk, crafts began to develop in Budanov. In the Austrian period, the village belonged to the Pototsky, Bobrovsky, Skarzhinsky.
