The village of Khmeliska on the river. The male is located 15 km west of Podvolochisk, 5 km from the M-12 "Ternopil - Khmelnitsky" highway. It has been known since 1565 as Khmelishcha. Probably, the name comes from the thickets of hops, which once covered the ravines around the village. In 1807, the first stone church of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Holy Theotokos was built. The first Catholic chapel was founded with funds from the Polish community of the village in 1899. Landowner I. Rosenstock allocated the land for construction. In 1931-38. the current Ascension Church was built. After World War II, Poles-Catholics were resettled to Poland, their place was taken by Ukrainian-Lemkos deported from the Polish Carpathians.
